About Tom

Tom A. Peter is a freelance journalist currently based in Amman, Jordan. He writes regularly for The Christian Science Monitor and he is the GlobalPost’s Jordan correspondent. He specializes in the Middle East, Islam, and military issues and has reported from Iraq, Afghanistan, the West Bank, Kuwait, Jordan, and throughout the United States. Tom has also provided on the ground analysis from Iraq for National Public Radio, CBS News Radio, and WERS Radio.

Tom grew up in southern California and graduated from Northwestern University where he majored in Middle Eastern Studies and minored in creative writing. He has traveled extensively in the Middle East and enjoys making his home there.
